Thirty Cases of Anxiety Treated with Acupuncture (with panetreting needle from
HT 7 to HT 8 method)

Patients
All 30 patients were definitely diagnosed as anxiety with HAMA standard with score > 14. The average
score was 19.83 ± 4.857.
13 patients were male and 17 female. Age: 29 – 60 year old. Average age: 41.2.
Minimum suffering course of anxiety: 2 month, maximum: 5 year.
Among those 30 patients, 5 of them also suffer from heart diseases, 5 with cerebrovascular disorder,
5 with digestive truck ulcerative disorders, 4 with diabetes, 3 with hypertension, 3 with rheumatoid
arthritis, 5 with other chronic disorders.
Treatment
The patients were treated with a specific acupuncture technique – penetrating the needle from point
HT 7 toward HT 8 method, once daily, 10 days treatment constituting one treatment course, for 2 – 3
consecutive courses.
Result
By the end of one-month treatment, 8 cases were clinical cured (26.7%) with HAMA score < 6. 16
cases were improved markedly (53.3%) with HAMA score > 6 but < 14. 6 cases were improved (20%)
with HAMA score > 14 but > 21. The total improvement rate was 100%. The average HAMA score
was 9.40 ± 2.81, P < 0.01.
Conclusion
This specific acupuncture technique had good therapeutic effect for patients with anxiety. It was
recommended as an alternative therapy for sufferers of anxiety trying to avoid serious side effects of
antianxiety drugs.
